I recently bought a C beam CNC machine with 3 axes (c beam linear actuators). I am planning to attach an additional linear actuator to my z axis to provide an extra level of movement in the z direction. The actuator that I am going attach is this (150mm slide stroke). The same company sells a similar actuator with a 50-60mm slide stroke which wights 780g, therefore I assume that the 150mm one should weigh no more than 2kg. The problem is that I don't know if the v wheels or the NEMA 17 stepper motor would hold the new linear actuator. Does anybody know what is the torque rating for the v wheels or the stepper motor + leadscrew assembly? Thanks.
Checkout the Testing Specs https://openbuilds.com/uploadfiles/Part Specs/OpenBuilds® Actuator Tests_V2.pdf for some ideas. It should handle 2KG just fine, but keep in mind weight can add Deflection: Refer to How to calculate V-Slot® deflection depending on how its supported
