Hello All, The Blackbox Openbuilds has only three axes, Can I do this type of connection with MTS402 switches, in order to have a rotary occasionally if this is not possible are there any specific reasons? Thank you in advance.
Video is kinda hard way to check wiring diagrams so consider the answer as 'didn' t check it' But a) Power Off before disconnecting/connecting motors! (switches will be the same as a hard disconnect) else the sudden collapsing field in the motor windings can fry the drivers b) Grbl is 3 axes only, but yes Vectric for example calls it Rotary Wrapping where it reuses X or Y as a rotary axis. Most folks unplug for example Y, throw down the rotary jig, plug it into Y and go!
At all times, when connecting or disconnecting anything, power off first! Particularly motors as the disconnect cuts the power to the coil, residual electromagnism collapses back into coil, coil becomes a generator, voltage comes back to the driver through that one pin that disconnected a little slower and boom dead goes the stepper driver
I’d be really interested in a video / blog of what you’re describing in b). I’d love to see an open builds 4th axis package that works with black box and a high z mod lead 1010. Cheers
Hello All, here is the video of my 4th axis in action, I am happy with the operation, if you have any questions do not hesitate. Be careful, as Peter says, turn off the Blackbox before changing position (Y / Rotary) or (Rotary / Y)
Which controller software is that? I assume you just send your y to the axis of the rotary prior to flipping the switches? what rotary unit is that?
Hello sorry for the delay .. in software I use (Aspire Vectric) for the toolpaths, then (CNCjs) to send the code. The whole works perfectly. below the link of the rotary. 130.8€ 5% de réduction|Bricolage CNC un axe axe rotatif avec mandrin pour tour à bois | AliExpress
