what do I need to make my Mini Mill run?

Hi,
I've purchased the Mini Mill years ago, unfortunately I wasn't able to use it (too complicate to explain...) any how now it is built! When I purchased it I also included in the bundle a power supply, but no controller, Do I need to add a controller like the black box(I guess it is also a power supply)? is there a software that I can use together with my machine and the power unit I have? I see also stuff about limit switches... I'm really confused here and I need to understand how am I going to make the machine run' Thank you!
