I am new to CNC and decided to use V-Slot to build my first machine. I have built the X Stag and Y Stage but was wondering how to build the Z Stage? From my understanding, X, Y move in their respective coordinate systems and Z-Axis moves either up or down. Is this assumption correct? Can someone please be kind enough to give me more insight?

    Thank you in advance

    Hi Yasser,

Your assumption is correct but for some machines the Z axis is the machine's work table which moves up and down whilst for others it is the machine's spindle motor which moves up and down.

Perhaps if you study the various builds (under the builds tab) you will see that everybody's approach to the Z axis is always slightly different and from this you should be able to establish which method is right for you and your build, bearing in mind the intended application / use for your finished machine.

    Hope this helps.

    Tweakie.
