Using 1 1/2 inch steel tubing as linear rails?

    Mill .010 from all four sides of the tubing for flatness and squareness. Have your movable assembly top plate ride directly on top of the tubing the other three sides surround the 1 1/2 tubing with pieces used as adjustable gibs to set pre load. And use machined surface to machine surface to glide against one another. The same as production CNC that use ways and gibs.
