It may seem dumb, but I would have thought that the GT2 Range, although wider, would have maintained the same height/depth, and steps as the original. The width merely improving the strength. Are the Pinions for these additional sizes readily available?

What do you mean Gray? There's difference in tooth pitch and belt width for that series. Personally, I've seen GT3 series belt being cross referenced with GT2 3mm pitch and all sorts in between. Apparently 3mm GT2 pulleys are supposed to be compatible with GT3 belt err.. 3mm GT2 pulleys. IDK. It gets pretty confusing. I believe 5mm pitch belts aren't available in the widths we would like for openrail. I have a gates dealer near me and I'm almost about to go consult with them. It's probably going to cost me big in the end if I go that route.

Anyways, the whole belt and pulley thing is kinda eating at me. I know I want GT3 with GT3 pulleys, but I can't seem to find GT3 pulleys. Resources here have GT3 belt. I've already, ordered and received GT2 belt and pulleys prior to realizing my OX will end up shredding them, so I'm still on the market for GT3 stuff.
I'll just save the GT2 for a future printer project.

If anyone has some links to GT3 stuff (mainly pulleys) please chime in so I can at least lock those things down already.

    Try here: https://sdp-si.com/eStore/Catalog/Group/217#
In the left column: Pulleys > Metal timing pulleys
and: Belts and Cables > Timing belts

Under the Pitch column, you'll note the GT2 pulleys come in 2mm, 3mm, and 5mm lobe spacings. What is referred to here as a GT3 is actually a 3mm GT2.

Sorry Rick. I just noticed the openbuilds store has pulleys and belt back in stock.
Kinda sick now that I realize I missed cybermonday!

    Thanks for the link though.

Hi Guys, Sorry I am new to the open build forum and its concepts, but would like to know how do you join the belt together?

    Thanks
