I have a recently built Ox and pretty much stuck to original build list which included using a Nema 17 for the Z axis. After using for a while I have been tempted to replace the Nema 17 for a 23 as I just have that feeling that a 17 is not 100% up to the job and will have a short life.

Having purchased a Nema 23 which is identical to the others driven by my CNC Xpro V3, I thought it was just a matter of occomodating the bigger spindle size, swapping the motors and making a couple of firmware changes on the Xpro board but I just get a click on the new motor when powered and nothing else.

Any ideas what else I am meant to do?

    Cheers Guys

Did you adjust your current on your Z-axis? It sounds like you need to up your amperage to the bigger motor.

Oh I get it, so the Z axis on the Xpro board is preset for lower amp motors.

Thats is most probably the issue, thanks for pointing it out to me.
