    Hi all

Need some advice. I’v been looking at this spindle [IMG] eBay
But my concerns are I’m trying to keep this build as small as possible as I’m restricted on space in my shop, so how do I power this spindle, do I need a vfd or can it be directly mains powered.

If I do need a vfd, can you recommend unit that is a small as possible, as small as possible really as my emectrics control unit is powered by a raspberry pi and only 7 inch wide and I’d like to house the unit in this to keep everything tidy to avoid future damage to any wiring.

    Thanks

    Rob

You need to do way more research. Your link is to a 2.2KW Spindle. This is far from "small". It's actually the complete opposite. You would need a pretty big machine to support the weight of this item.4.9kg ~ 10.78#.

I would recommend a 800w water cooled spindle. You can find them on eBay or Amazon. You will need a VFD, but many come as a complete package. You could also go with a router.
