I'm trying to figure out if a 4'x4' (1220mm) cutting area CNC is doable with the OpenBuilds V-Rail or C-Rail?
Max length for the rails is 1500mm from the OpenBuilds store.
Task is to cut 3/4" plywood or MDF, mostly just through-cuts (2D).
Will the machine be rigid enough with max length rails? Can additional extrusions be added to stiffen up the frame?
Are there other limitations I'm likely to run in to? Belts stretching, etc..?

    Any input is greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,

    Boris.

oh sorry just reread your post you plan on using belts. that would work, you can also look at rack and pinion system.
1500mm is still a long stretch for a single beam.
it will work either way, but you might have to slow the machine down to a very slow speed to get accurate cuts.
