long lead screw 1500+

    I am looking for a long screw but a little worried about whip any one had luck with a 5 to 6 foot lead

    Your looking for the critical speed.
    Its based on length, end support types, and I believe minor dia.
    google "Nook critical speed"

    You need a ballscrew over that distance.. Leadscrews only for vertical aplications really. Im using a 1500m 20 mm ballscrew with an anti backlash nut and getting |<0.01mm backlash with it. This is a quality ballscrew, there are cheap chinese versions that wont perform anywhere near so really it depends on the quality.
