This just popped up on kickstarter. It uses a slightly modified Ultimaker mounted upside down on a vertical slide to increase Z axis length up to 3 meters. It may be a project worth supporting even if you don't have an Ultimaker as it is fairly certain someone (more likely a number of someones) here will be doing a V-slot based knockoff. There is also a short documentary video of the process that is well worth watching.
