High-Torque NEMA 23 Current

    Hi Folks,

    I just purchased a number of linear actuators from OpenBuilds using the OpenBuilds high-torque NEMA 23 steppers. The current rating in the spec is a bit confusing. Is it truly 3A/phase, or 6A in total? This seems to be quite a lot for a stepper.

    They are 3A Motors, correct. :)

    To clarify, being 3A/phase, do I need a controller that can handle 6A or 3A to drive one?

    On this same topic, can I expect the Blackbox to use 3A to drive any stepper that I plug into it?

    Basically yes. But also compare other motor specs to ours (inductance, coil voltage, resistance etc). Amperage is just one of the parameters to take into account
