I've been researching spindles for the 1000x1000 workbee mechanical kit, and I've found a lot of people use Chinese 1.5kw motors. ER11 collets seem to be the most common available to buy and I've not been able to find a reasonably priced ER16 version of the square shaped spindle motor. Here are the two deals I'm torn between: 1.5kw Air Cooled ER16 (with VFD) - £181.95 1.5kw Air Cooled ER11 (square shape with VFD) - £229.79 Which of those would you choose, or would you got for another option? I like the idea of the square spindle mount, as it provides additional cooling and stability... however the cheaper option is ER16, but I'd need to source a separate mount.
Just another quick question - it looks like the 1.5kw ER11 spindles are 65mm and weigh 3.5kg. The 1.5kw ER16 spindles are 80mm and weigh 5.5kg. Would the latter be too heavy for a workbee build? I've been offered an ER16 for the same price as the ER11... but I don't know if it'll be too heavy.
