    Hi,

a few weeks ago I learned the hard way that aluminum chips inside a notebook can be a really bad and expensive combination.

So my plan at the moment is to build a chip and dust proof controller housing with integrated windows tablet PC, keyboard and trackpad.

Yesterday I've completed the sheet metal parts made of 4mm aluminum for the front panel and 2mm aluminum for the rest:

Unfortunately I don't have a bending brake so everything needs to be bent by hand.
To make things much easier and precise all bends are notched with a v-bit before bending:

I'm not sure if it makes sense to attach the dxf files here as the whole design depends heavily on the parts used - but if anyone is interested I'll attach them later.

Next will be some brackets to mount the tablet PC...

    Hi,

today I found some time to continue the build:

The tablet is a Chuwi Hi10 pro with 4GB Ram / Windows 10 for about $210.
It is held by 4 brackets and can be switched on by the brass pin you see at the top left.

The keyboard is a waterproof Keysonic KSK-6231 with integrated trackpad (In the past I often got issues with chips blocking some keys so a waterproof keyboard is a good choice for something like this).

I like it! I was thinking of getting one of these tablets for this same purpose.
The DXF for the tablet and keyboard mount would be great.

    Hi,

got a lot of work to do the last few days but finally finished it:

To be honest I'd change a few things:
    • Making the back of the housing was a lot of work - I'd now prefer a ready made steel cabinet and just add the front panel with keyboard.
    • I wanted it to be as small as possible - but having more space would make things much easier to assemble.
Other than that I'm very happy with the result.
