Nice build  that is pretty much the same setup as my c-beam machine; even down to Pi 2 controller and drivers. It has been running great!

    Ryan,

Love the build!!! Although I've not build my first CNC Machine YET :) I have two of THESE beauties and a Pi3 just waiting in the wings. I'll be following your build and the discussions with Kyo to lessen the confusions and frustration when I do get there ;-)

    Keep up the great work!!!

    Sonny

Thanks all, this site and its members have been a tremendous help!

    Future plans:
    actually cut something
Fab cover over terminal blocks and wiring
    install limit switches for homing.
    build platform stablizers
    increase z axis rizers

    Update:
    I made a successful run!
Using a sharpie still. I created a text part in Solidworks and used HSM Express which is a solidworks CAM plug in. The post processor supports grbl but I noticed that it tries to use M30 which grbl does not support. It didnt affect the run though since M30 is an ending program code.

At first the c-beam ran the but the lettering was backwards. It looked fine in the controller though. After some digging I figured out that I needed to invert the x axis in grbl ($3=2) . I ran it again and it fixed the problem.

Almost ready to cut something. 2016-06-28 22.32.17.jpg

Very nice! It is always exciting when you have your first successful run. I look forward to seeing what kind of projects you create with your cnc.
