I'm putting together my wishlist for building a 24" x 24" OX for a combination plasma/mill setup. There are sets of OX gantry plates out there (eBay), 1/2" thick and 1/4" thick. It seems that 1/4" thick is sufficient, but am curious on comments out there. My intention with this setup is to be portable, generally set it onto the material to be milled or plasma cut. Also, I want to try to be able to store this on the wall when not in use. So, I'd like to keep the weight down as much as possible, but I don't see this different making a huge difference, other than I assume that the 1/2" plates will need longer screws than called out BOM Builder and in the wheel kits.

Thanks for the input! I'll be posting a build once started.

Oops... nevermind! Turns out 1/2" plates weren't available. I had confused them with something else. Suppose I'll be going with the 1/4"!

(would delete this thread, but couldn't find an option to do that)
