    Hi
Its time to replace a mdf bed. This time I wanted something more rigid. I think having 10mm aluminium plate instead of double 12mm mdf would give me more depth. I could have a few different mdf tops for different applications. Or use a full depth with only the plate.
What kind of aluminium should I get?
Do you find T slots or threaded holes to be more useful?
Should I buy a plate with a high thickness tolerance or just surface it afterwards? I normally machine acrylics and wood so I dont have much experience with aluminium. U want to change that though
    Thank you

Are you planning on using only the aluminum bed, with no sacrifice plate?

I have ordered 12mm 6068T6 plate. Im will machine a M5 grid. Should I just tap it or its better to use a socket set screws?
I found in the XL c-beam manual a litle advice saying that I could replace top plates with a 120 mm x 40 mm. Has anybody done it?

Just tapping it should be fine. Make sure the holes and taps are perpendicular! :D
