Hello, I just received the blackbox X32 I will use it on a LEAD 1010 I would like to use it in 4th axis with rotary. I would like to know if it would be possible to connect the 2 Y axes to the Y output of the controller and keep the Y2 output for the rotary axis? thank you
Correct. Both Y motors in parallel on Y and the 4th on Y2. Then flash the 4th axis firmware from Wizards and Tools > Firmware flashing tool
ok thanks, openbuild cam and openbuild control can handle 4th axis? Or do you have to use another software?
If you really want the fourth axis work to be easy, VCarve Desktop v11.5 is real easy to learn and use. But that being said, I have never tried generating CAM for a rotary in Fusion 360. I have hear good things about Carveco as well, but have no first hand experience.
thank you, I have already tried fusion 360 but I have a lot of trouble taking it in hand i'm used to solidworks, but i have the student version and there's no built-in cam in this version moreover I do not believe that solodworks manages grbl I will look for vcarve, thank you
Vcarve can be purchased at various sites, but it is also sold here in the OpenBuilds Parts Store. VCarve Desktop v11.5 For more information on the various versions of Vectric's software, look here: V&Co - Vectric Customer Portal The nice thing about their software is that you can always upgrade to a more powerful version by just paying the difference in price. I went with Vcarve Desktop because I have no need to cut anything on my rotary axis longer than 24 inches. If some day I do need a larger area, I can upgrade to Vcarve pro and get credited with the price I paid for Vcarve Desktop. Then that would be $5=7 - so that is correct Upon triggering an endstop, it enters Hard Limits alarm mode. The Alarm window pops up giving your a Clear Alarm button (Also available on the top toolbar if you closed the error) Clear the alarm, then jog out of the switch.
I don't have a switch to activate, when I clear the alarm, it comes back in a loop and I can't do anything. at one point the red light (!) lights up at the level of the driver X in troubleshooting all switch works I deactivate the limits switch and I have no problem
- I do see you are connected via Wifi - as a test - try connecting via USB - just to determine if that plays a role (if so we can dig deeper) - Are you running the stock 3 Axes firmware? With usb is a same, Yes a running au stock firmware, OpenBuild Control flash This morning The fault led is on with no wire connected ( motor or switch ) when the limit switch is actived in grbl I try with blackbox x4 and all is good
That would sound a lot less like luck - than something in motor wiring / psu / etc causing damage to the BlackBox - added a note to support team to let them work though it closer with you, help you find whats causing the damage. Prep some pictures of your motor wiring, lists of any 3rd party components in use etc - they'll be asking for more info like that to help you find the cause of the trouble. Thanks
it would be weird if it was a connection problem, because it's an upgrade from a blackbox x4 to x32, I just reconnected the connectors. moreover, when the limit switches do not activate in grbl everything works
For the BlackBox X32, that is the correct way. Y1 and Y2 on Y1 Driver, Y2 becomes the A axis Flash the 4-axes firmware from Wizards and Tools > Firmware flashing tool
Is there a diagram of the wiring for this and do two wires need to be reversed for one of the y motors?
No diagram yet. If its a belt drive machine with the Y motors facing each other then one motor is reversed.. If its leadscrews no reversal needed.
ok Ive got it connected and the firmware is up and running. this is a ball screw setup. now the issue is when jogging y, one side moves before the other.
disconnect the Y motors from the leadscrews and check that they move at the same time and in the correct direction. I suspect one of your motors is not actually running

Doable, but can always splice further up away from the connector too. Use Wagos, 1-in-2-out lever terminals, Screw Terminals, splice connectors, whatever method you prefer
