Discussion in '3D Scanners' started by dcorb, Dec 11, 2015.
My attempt at a 3D scanner. Still trying to convince myself it will work.
dcorb published a new build:

This looks like it will be very interesting. I hope you are successful. I would love to build one as well.
The first 3D scanner shared on OpenBuilds!
This looks great @dcorb, thank you for sharing
Any update on this ?? Do you have a diagram ??
Following this, I'm hoping to build one myself! I've heard the cheap lasers lack accuracy though as the beam they shine is too thick. I'm tempted by the pi cam option as well as its much quicker then a webcam, but it's only 5mp, do you think this will effect scan quality?
I am using FreeLSS FreeLSS: The Free 3D Printable Laser Scanning System For the Raspberry Pi
I am new to this and learning as I go. As for the camera and lasers my plan is to go cheap and see if things work. If it does actually function then it is time to upgrade to higher quality parts.
There is a schematic here: 3D Scanner Build: Part 1
Very interesting, just looking for a project like this.
Finally received some parts from China. Hope to get back to work on this project soon.
