    Hi All
I am new to the forum and am currently planning on building a 1000x 750 router.
Due to noise constraints I have decided to go with a water cold spindle, but the er11 and er16 collets put me off because of the size limitations. I have found a 1.5kw water cooled spindle on Ebay Australia with an er20 collet. The 1.5 is my preferred choice for power and weight, with the 2.2 kw being too heavy. I plan to reinforce my Y gantry to cope but I still think the 2.2 kw unit will be too heavy.

So my question is, has anyone used such a unit and is there anything I should be looking out for?

    Thanks

I completely understand your objective but ER20 is a bit excessive. Even an ER16 is more than an OX will handle. You just won't be able to make use of it unless you are cutting foam.

Also the link you posted is for a 2.2kW spindle.

I want a 65mm 1.5kW with an ER16. I know the 80mm has more torque, but there is also a significant weight difference. 800W is way more than even my much smaller and beefier machine can handle. That extra power is simply for down low torque.

    Thanks
The confusion arose because of an error from the sellers posting, which has now been updated.
