I gave some small, low-cost electronics a go (specifically the DSPB-100 / KAB-250V3 / DSPB-EC combo with DSPB-ICP1 programmer) for driving SB65WBAC25-4 / W5-1138SMF drivers. The electronics have DSP & Bluetooth capability.
The speaker enclosures are made from various thicknesses of MDF. Tongue and groove jointing in the subwoofer enclosure panels worked out particularly well and will be used again. Making all parts on the CNC ensured precise fitting at assembly.
The curved fronts turned out well using a 3D Parallel machining finish. The mating curved front for the small satellite speaker was made to allow the front to be oriented face down for flush trimming the perimeter of the front baffle.
A big challenge was implementing DSP with SigmaStudio in order to achieve appropriate crossover slopes and flat overall frequency response.
Spot putty and thinned wood glue was used on edges and such prior to painting to provide a smooth initial surface. I tried the white roller grade Duratex finish on the little speaker system.
