I created a small .crv file in Vectric Vcarve pro and saved it for future mods if necessary
then through Vcarve pro I exported that .crv file to a .dxf file
then used Sheetcam to check the file for operation which was all good
my post processor in Sheetcam was already set up for the Langmuir Crossfire V1.6 (the latest version)
ran the post processor which created the .tap file (which is the gcode file to run on the Langmuir crossfire plasma cutter which uses Firecontrol software)
I connected to my Langmuir Firecontrol program and tried to open my file which is a .tap file and the following message appeared

    Validation error
    no program speed found
This program will not be loaded. Please make sure you are using the latest Langmuir systems approved post processor

now here is the weird thing: The icon picture for the xxxxx.tap is an OPENBUILDS emblem

This has happened to me in the past, I could never get an answer from Openbuilds why this happened with Langmuir or Sheetcam. it must be a glitch in the software. nothing was ever done about it. !!!!!

For your info I have the Openbuilds software controlling my Openbuilds brand wood carving/cutting machine which is working great, I also have a CO2 laser using Lightburn which also works great. I also have a 3D printer and their processed and saved files also use the openbuilds icon for the Gcode

It would appear to me that the problem is no option in changing post processor

I'm not a computer nerd and struggle at times with the frustration and lack of knowledge. If it were not for youtube university I would have quit this hobby long ago.

I will post this on the following forums so others can learn from this:
    openbuilds forum
    Sheetcam forum
    Langmuir forum
    Louisianna Hobby guy forum
    Vectric Vcarve forum

I have purchased licenses for all the software I use. no glitches because of unlicensed software.

The openbuilds logo comes from the windows file association. (assuming you have windows) If you want to change the file association, right click on the .tap file, click on properties, then change the "Opens with" settings to whatever app you want. After you click ok, all .tap files will be associated with that new app.

As far as the error message goes, you'll need to talk to the people who support the post processor and the control software you're using. Just tell them its not producing a feed rate. No reason to get vectric or even sheetcam involved.

I have already done what you stated, however Windows cannot find any app to do what I need, so I'm still at a loss as to how to solve the problem. Also, its not a matter of getting Vectric or sheetcam involved its just common courtesy to share the troubleshooting issue I'm having with other newbies

    Gotcha.

    See if this helps

Right Click on any .tap file
    Select Properties
Click on Change next to "Opens With"
    Click on More Apps
Scroll through the list and look for Firecontrol.
If you cant find it, scroll all the way down and click on "Look for another app on this pc"
Browse to where FireControl is installed. This is the location you specified when you installed. If you cant remember that and you have a FireControl icon on your desktop, you can right click on it and go into properties. The app location will be in the "target" input box.

I just downloaded it and the default install directory for me was: C:\Users\shawn\AppData\Local\FireControl\FireControl.exe. Yours might be similar except changing "shawn" with whatever username you have.

So, with all of this said, you can open the file in FireControl even if windows has associated it with OpenBuilds Control. The file association merely allows you to double click on the file and automatically open the associated app. It doesnt stop you from opening that file from within another app.

I thank you for your much needed reply and explanation on how to correct the Icon fix to which I will take care of later today.
The error problem is that I had only completed the CAD portion of the file thinking that the Sheetcam software would take care of the CAM
portion of the cut requirements. I went back to Vcarve and completed the CAM portion then exported that file as a DXF to Sheetcam and voila - success no error.
I have all my answers now.
I hope this info will help other newbies if they ever run into this
