HI all I have just tried my first cut on my stronghold pro but its not cutting as the image is on the screen it looks like it is mirrored or something. I am using the openbuilds hello world test file. any help would be appreciated.
OpenBuildsCONTROL > Grbl Settings > Scroll down to $3 Direction Invert and flip whichever axis is mirrored's switch, click Save, click Reset when prompted.

I am getting another odd issue I have made a sketch in fusion 360 and also exported it as a dfx the cuts look good in openbuilds software but I am having a weird issue when the bit moves to cut a new hole it drags across the top of the material and then plunges to the last depth
Here is a better picture on the 2nd hole it does not look like it is following the gcode instructions.

The yellow world runs fine I think, this is really starting to do my head in been at it for days now with the same results.
The post your Fusion360 file and Gcode export for review. Probably something set incorrectly in your toolpaths
Also please the Fusion file Use File > Export to export a Fusion Archive (.f3d /.f3z) to the local drive.
I mean Fusion has fantastic Built-in CAM so if you have Fusion you'd typically just use that as CAD and CAM. Exporting to DXF and using another CAM like OpenBuildsCAM certainly is possible of course too. What CAM did you use to cut the file above? ( I was assuming Fusion's CAM)
I used the openbuilds control program to load the gcode and then the openbuilds control to do the cut ect
you MUST home the machine, either with the homing limit switches and press the Home button in CONTROL before setting up to cut, or by using the 'fake the home method'. Homing sets some stuff that fusiono360 'assumes' will be correct. Home, Fusion360 and G53 Z moves How to 'Fake the home'

OK in that case instead of a Fusion file, post the CAM workspace for review OpenBuilds CAM > As you had your toolpaths setup > Save/Load Project > Save Project (Export OBC)
Are you sure you can afford a 20mm safe height above the material without crashing the Z axis? (only needs like 2-3mm to move over the stock without crashing)
and when it has moved over to the next cut it plunges right down to the last cuts end depth by the looks of it. Really confused now as the demo hello file is fine
and you are zeroing on top of the board? Z not slipping/stalling? (thought the Z clearance has you ram into top of Z axis)
I just did a single cut and went to cut the same part again, did the normal re did X y z 0 and straight away it moved then plunges right down to the last depth. Is it possible I have a faulty x32 box?
Symptoms doesn't line up with a "bad controller" they tend to be dead Everything else about the controller is in your control. Perhaps set Z Max Rate or Z Acceleration too high, try 1/4 of current value in Grbl Settings then try again That Z is slipping, so lets try settings, then if it still slips check hardware (grub screws on shaft coupler, etc)
Checked couplers ect they are all tight I'll adjust the z speed, the openbuilds software is really slow to react to anything I do now and I can't find the machine on the network, had this error come up which is new, so going to try it on another computer,

The gcode was already loaded i tried to cut another one of what i had cut so just re Zeroed and clicked Run, something odd is going on. Is there a way i can factory reset and start over?
Yes, but you aren't getting "EEPROM CORRUPTED" errors - lets not grasp at unrelated ideas Only time a reset makes sense if machine has been properly setup and in use for a long time. Then you worked on settings and messed it, badly. No backup. No hope of even seeing what changed. Then a reset and start over makes sense. That's not where we are, your commissioning a new setup, and at the early part of the learning curves Which could happen if your Z slips while raising the tool before the plunge. Try the Its a 3rd party machine, maybe high inductance motors, or a different drive system, somehing that still needs tuning that probably stalls under speed during Z-lift (working against weight of spindle) Read Grbl v1.1 Configuration
The motors were all purchased direct from the openbuilds store, power supply and x32 controller as well, all the cabling came from there as well. The make of the CNC is a ratrig stronghold pro.
