    Hi All,

I've dove in and started buying parts to make a 1m x1m sphinx like design with linear rails. I've purchased C channel from this site and have ordered my long linear rails with HGH15ca bearings.

the desire is a scaled up version of this
LINEAR RAIL SPHINX 55 (Blue OX plates)

I tried to contact the person on ebay which sells the side plates asking them of which ball screw would go with their setup and that person responded cryptically, I do not know if it is poor taste in this community to ask of others designs and how things go together??

My goal is to have fun building a one-off machine for me, I don't plan on making any business out of this but would like a machine which I could build some parts for my boat, cutting starboard, marine ply, and some aluminum.

I've ordered 8"x11" 1/2" thick aluminum plates for the side plates and would like to do a drawing of the side panels in sketchup then print out on my printer and make a full size pre-production piece on MDF before I make any mistakes on the aluminum.

Does anyone know where I could get a sketchup drawing of the HGH15ca bearing block, a bonus (for me) would also be how the bearing sits on the linear rail so I could figure out the distance between the pair of rails when installed on the C channel.

    thanks in advance

Just use the dimensions and draw them up. If it were me, I would just draw a box to dimensions of the block with a slot down the center for the rail.

@Chris Laidlaw has been a member here for many years. May have just been a communication issue.
Sharing information is our common thread here. And while not everyone shares absolutely everything (often for good reason) most share simply because of how much they have benefitted from what has been shared with them.

I'm not sure what happened with the communication with Chris, I would have bought his panel kit if I could have received better communications. Roughly $60 for aluminum stock vs $175 for his side panel kit, he's practically giving them away.

I used the chart provided by Redington and built a basic drawing for that linear bearing (disclaimer - if you use it, check my drawing as I am new to this and I don't think I have the screw holes the right diameter as I did not research the shaft dimension for a m4 machine screw). I've also used the drawing of the C Channel which I found here and used it to create the basis of a side panel. I've got a bunch more to figure out and test with mdf so this is going to take me a fairly large amount of time to learn this and figure out how to put something together.

The bolt pattern looks correct 26x26mm to the center of each hole squared and 4mm bore for M4 bolt. They look good to me.
