This is a Cantilever Laser Engraver design originally based on A different kind of build.
Cost should be $170-$200 or less if you already have some of the parts. Weight of 3D Printed parts is 7.5lbs with a print time of about 17 hours. I am using grbl firmware on a Eleksmaker mana 3 controller board with DRV8825 drivers. My build uses 1-2040x600mm Main Beam, 1-2020x600mm Back Beam, 1-2020x700mm Cantilever, 2-2060x500 Feet, 2-2060x250 Vertical Feet & 1-2020x125mm V-Slot, a 2020 gantry plate and a NEJE 6W diode laser. My burning width is 425x425mm (116.7"x16.7").
I printed my parts out of PETG. The only thing I currently might update is to cut the main plates out of aluminum.

Here is a good example of the benefits of this design. Using my previous version with a 3d printed carriage with laser offset as much as possible, I was able to engrave one my inside deck boards within an inch of the house.
