This build is a pair of screw type linear actuators connected to create an X-Y stage.
What makes these actuators unique is that the acme threaded rod does not run beyond the length of the carriage to a receiving plate with an idler bearing. Instead this assembly allows the acme rod to be concealed inside of the carriage creating a nice minimal compact system.
While this may limit the stroke length it has its place in smaller systems such as the one shown in the examples. Larger assembles can be made as well, as long as the carriage is lengthened.
In this build you will learn about how many of the OpenBuilds parts work together creating a modular linear system.
Note: The OpenBuilds 3 way cube connector can also be used in place of the 90 degree block connector for a different look that adds.
* The V-Slot can be any length and size (check example model) you desire, as long as it can contain the length of the ACME rod inside of the carriage cart (Check model for example) In the example we are making a small stage that has a gantry V-Slot rail length of (210mm) with a gantry cart length of (100mm) the ACME rod length for this setup is (130mm) this leaves us enough room for the ACME rod to fit without hitting the end plates on the end of the V-Slot carriage.
