I have ordered the Openbuilds black box and Interface handheld controller.

I want to add a 32 inch monitor to my cnc set up so I can see what's happening from a distance.

What would I need to run openbuilds control? I keep going round in circles as have asked the question on a facebook group and someone says yes that's would work and then someone says no that would crash?

I was thinking of a cheap mini pc with HDMI output like this:

    Intel NUC 5 Mini PC Tiny DCCP847DYE Celeron 847e QS77 4GB RAM 30GB SSD 2X HDMI | eBay

Half say yes it's fine while others say it wont work?

It might be slow on large files but will work
Note with an Interface installed you don't need a computer at the machine. Interface replaces the computer. See:

Hi thanks, the computer was mainly to be able to connect a monitor up to my machine.

Can I have both? A fully working interface controller also a mini pc monitoring and be able to control Open builds control? Or is it one or the other?

If I have both where does the interface plug into and where does the PC too?

    Correct

Interface can pass-through a computer for times of troubleshooting etc - but its not the main intended design purpose so not the polished experience of using either the one or the other.

See docs:interface:connect-blackbox [OpenBuilds Documentation] - and note the "important note" on that page. The presense of the USB cable tells the BlackBox which device to talk to, with USB taking preference (in other words, if the USB cable is plugged in, BlackBox will be speaking to the Computer. If the USB cable is unplugged, it will speak to the Interface.

Further technical info: docs:blackbox:aux-serial [OpenBuilds Documentation]

I'd say so, you miss out on the eye-candy of the 3D view, but in-use it's all you need :)

That's a big win - spend that toward raw materials (; that machine needs to fed
