    Hello Markus,

What controller card are you using?

I've got an xPro v3 and if I remember correctly I had to install the FTDI drivers: Virtual COM Port Drivers

    Cheers

    Adam

I don't believe the Mk3/4 is compatible with the Openbuilds software. It runs an entirely different processor. It should be using the planet-cnc software that came with it.

Right, Check the software information on the product page, lots of info there....

Assembly Build / Support / Documentation
You can connect the CNC USB controller Mk3/4 to the DQ542MA Stepper Motor Driver. Installation instructions can be found here.

    On more Thing !

I want to install a Cold Glue Ventil on my acro System from Openbuilds .

    My whole Setup :

    Acro System
    Nehma17" Motors
    DQ542MA Motordriver
    Cnc Usb Driver Mk 3/4
    Cnc Planet Maschinedriver software

    The Ventil works with a coil ( 8Volt approx. 0,5 amps) .

The plan is to apply gluedots on a papersheed.
For this i want to use the pwm Signal from the mk3/4 Controller …...or is it a better idea to lay out the gluelines in very smal dots in the G-Code file?

And wich Out Signal is the best for my Ventil /Coil ?

    Thank You very much

    Greetings from Austria

    Markus

These are questions best asked on the Planet-CNC forum. The number of forum members here that have experience with the Mk3/4 is somewhat limited so you may not get as good of answers here as you would get there.

OpenBuilds CONTROL is for Grbl based machines.
USBCNC is a proprietary protocol (closed source) from PlanetCNC (So we cannot support it as its not known/documented)

Hy Peter , ok i see.
But thats a Little frustrating for me .
No one told me that , if i was collecting all my parts for the acro System on openbuilds , someone from openbuilds guidet me online to by the correct parts.
In Nov/ december there was only the mk3/4 Controller available ,so i both it .
Now it is a very hard Job to find all the Settings four the planet cnc Controller Software ...

Reach out to PlanetCNC Support they are a great bunch of people who would love to help you get going.
The USBCNC is in many ways a better controller, just need them to guide you through the settings a bit. Refer to OpenBuilds ACRO System -> Scroll down to Machine Settings - that would help too (use the names to find equivalent values in PlanetCNC settings. Keep posting here and we'll help you where you get stuck, just include screenshots etc

If you send them the Grbl settings from the ACRO page they might be able to help better too

Seeing as you are building an awesome, custom machine (not just a acro as a laser) the MK3/4 is going to be awesome by they way - its more expandable to custom things like these than a Grbl board would be. Just chat to their support and their forum, while we do resell their boards, the support is done over on their forums and chat - they do an awesome job.

So did a little checking for you:

    laser control.PNG

if you have the PlanetCNC setup as above.

Then refer to LaserWeb/LaserWeb4 and set

    TOOL ON COMMAND = M3
    TOOL OFF COMMAND = M5
    PWM MAX S VALUE = 255

    GCODE START:
    G21 ;mm mode
    G90 ;absolute positioning

    GCODE END:
    M5
    M2

    That should get you lasering

PS: LaserWeb and OpenBuilds CAM won't do straight lines. Both need closed vectors (a closed vector has at least three points. A line has 1)

but you can also hand-write gcode: LinuxCNC "G-Code" Quick Reference

G0 X?? Y?? to position where to start
    M3 to turn on
G1 X?? Y?? to move to end of line
    M5 to turn off
