Hello, I'm new to the CAM program. I'm trying to import SVG file for my CNC mill. It will import but the scaling is way off. I'm setting my document type to mm in my designer program then I export to SVG. When I import SVG into the CAM program the size does not match. Is there something I'm missing? Also, when I'm importing it doesn't always get everything..

    thanks,

    -jim

Needs some extra info please: Always add the details

    1) Which CAM application?
    2) Which application are you preparing the SVGs in?
    3) Set your export DPI to:
Inkscape >0.91 = 90dpi (is the default in Inkscape >0.91)
Inkscape <0.91 = 96dpi (is the default in Inkscape <0.91)
Illustrator: 72dpi (is the default in Illustrator)
All others: 96 dpi - fallback to the most widely used default

Convert all other objects to SVG Paths: See docs:software:file-errors [OpenBuilds Documentation]

ok, thanks for the quick reply..
    1) I'm using the CAM program from this forum (Openbuilds). BTW, is there a users guide or help site?
    2) I'm using Affinity Designer, and I've tried QCAD on my mac.
    3) I used the default setting which I think was 300dpi.

After reading your reply I looked more closely at the export settings and the 'small' setting uses 72dpi.

I'll admit I'm not too knowledgeable about SVG files and how they work..

    thanks for any insight,

    -jim

Hi, i have a similar issue, i have an original file let us say A.svg. the image size in A file is 20 inches. I made this file in Computer A, when I open the same file in Computer B (using inkscape as well) then save as the file to B.svg. when I load to my CNC, A.svg cuts correct dimension, but B.svg is shorter by an inch . What do you think is the issue

You just have to specify the expected DPI when you export your files
