I am thinking about getting a workbee 1010, not sure what controller but have a question. On the xcarve controller you have to set a did switch to keep torque on when changing bits. Is there a similiar jumper or software bit like this on the new blackbox or xpro 4? I did a search but didn’t come up,with anything.

Both the xpro (using the on-board drivers, not exteral) and blackbox keep power to the motors. No need to set anything.

Provided that $1=255 in Grbl. Always set Step Idle to Disabled by setting $1 to 255. That keeps them 'always on' which is the most reliable config
