    Sweeet! wow @Kyo you have really taken this build to the next level. Nice job all the way from the use of the ferrules as well as overall wire management (10) to all the amazing 3d printed additions set off by great pics to showcase the work. Thank you for sharing the updated Sphinx build

    Really nice to see someone showing how attention to detail and good practice makes for a polished machine. Thanks for sharing.

    Hola Kyo and community!
    Thank you for this awesome build. I've been learning a lot about CNC and Openbuilds with the Cbeam Plate-Maker in the last 18 months and I feel that this would be the next step in terms of rigidity in a small form factor and fixed bed. It looks astonishing.
    I'm trying to find out the shortest route with the parts I have and in the end I decided to jump into fusion360 to do the puzzle with what I have and the ones I need to buy. I just have a couple of questions that I was not able to find the answer in all the Kyo remixes. Maybe somebody could give me a hand:
    - Is there any consideration in having the Y motors in front of the machine instead of in the back? That way I can "close" the machine with a sheet of something in the back and control a little the mess the machine does with aluminum shavings/wood plastic... I'm actually not worried with the front wasted space because I usually use that to leave tools and whatnot.
    - Is is possible to have the z gantry in a platemaker XL style? With 6 wheels outside and the cbeam moving with the tool instead of 4 miniwheels inside the C track. I'm guessing that it was a tradeoff between cuantity of parts and rigidity, but I am not sure. I am not a machine designer, just a cheap remixer.

    Thank you again and to all the community. I've been learning a lot the last 8 months!!

    You can download the files and customize them. The original plates are here in the files section. C-beam Sphinx

    If you are talking about this,
    upload_2023-9-28_17-46-52.png

    I checked his Thingiverse account and was unable to find it there. It is strange it was not added in the file sections here. Kyo is a really thorough maker and has put files up of just about everything. Hopefully, he comes back soon.

    That being said, it looks like a fairly straight forward design, so it could be replicated easily enough.

    Thanks :thumbsup:. I am absent but not gone. The last few years I have been caregiver, driver and company for my aging family members. More recently dealing with funerals , estates ect. I hope to be more active again when things settle down and time is more my own.

    @Hykr3n
    I apologize for the slow response. After checking my Fusion 360 projects folder, I do still have that file. Please find attached the STL.

    May I ask where you got the plates for the HGR15. That is what I am looking for.

    remember when generating gcode from sketchup for cutting aluminum to make sure ramping is on at a conservative angle AND make sure no short ramp segment got converted into a plunge, there will be a comment in the Gcode about it, so just read the Gcode. to force the ramp on a longer segment just put a 1% deep hole near where you want the cut to start then group the hole and the shape. groups will cut together, and groups will cut first, so the hole will get dotted then the ramp will start at the nearest point to the hole.

    That's awesome. I would love the files. Are you using lead screws or ball screw on this? I am assuming the standard 8mm lead screw. I was just asking because I bought SFU1605s and wanted to us them.

    Awesome, Thank you. I have thought about going with a rack and pinion setup over the lead or ball screws. Still doing the research on that.
