My apologies for the newbie style question. I’ve had my xPro V5 working on a WorkBee v3 machine using a spindle which I built myself. I have now purchased a 40w laser module as I want to do some engraving and cutting with a laser.

The Xpro has PWM out pins, but I’m wondering if it also directly provides the 12v power to the laser diode or if a seperate power supply / controller board would still be needed.

Usually most lasers need external power. Your controller vendor should have their own documentation, but our OpenBuilds BlackBox's Laser documentation at Sections 3.3.2 and 3.3.3 of docs:blackbox-x32:start [OpenBuilds Documentation] should translate somewhat (PWM output + external power)
