Do you have a multimeter? If so, check the voltage between pin9 and GND on the Arduino with the proximity sensor hooked up and triggered/not triggered.
Sadly the sensors aren't suitable then - they aren't capable of pulling the voltage low enough to work with the logic levels of the Arduino. This can't be fixed by fitting 'pull-up' resistors.

Hi all. I started working on my machine again. I have installed the limit switches on my y axis first. I then tested it. It works well in stopping the y axis movement when triggered. The issue I have is even when resetting and unlocking the machine on CNCjs it will only move for say 5mm and then stop. Does not matter what I do it will not move. I then have to disconnect the power and power on again. It will then move freely again. Anny help will be appreciated.
No, I meant when the machine only moves 5mm - If you try and home it without one of the axes connected (and haven't set it up for that), it will lock up while it is waiting for the non-existent axis to hit the switch. Does it work OK with limits (hard and soft) disabled? Check also that you have the machine travel set correctly ($130...$132)
The machine run 100% without limits. Are you saying that I need to install all the limits first before it will work correctly?
You might need to install limits on all 3 axes so that the machine will home correctly (you only need one switch per axis). Then enable soft limits and see what happens.
Good morning So I have installed all the limit switches on all the axis. $21 is enabled. No joy. Nou I do not have any movement as the hard limit alarm is permanently on. Reset and unlock does not work......
Use the troubleshooting tab in Openbuilds Control to test the limit switches. You may have to toggle the polarity of the switches if they are showing triggered all the time and not triggered if you press them. Alex.
and check that in mounting the switches you did not mount them upsidedown and cause a short between the circuit and the frame
As Alex says, plus disable hard limits until everything else is working (homing, etc.). (I would advise not using hard limits full stop - soft limits work well IMHO and don't result in the machine losing position when they're triggered.)
