Hi I'm building a Glass Bottle Cutting Machine and because I need to cut the bottle twice I needed a gantry system to run the cutter from one side of the base board to the other. As I had a lot of Openbuilds parts left over from my CNC router build I thought I'd make a Nema 17 belt & pinion system to do this. I've started the build and nearly finished it, but now I'm wondering how to get the system to move from one side of the board to the other. Basicly I'm going to use an Arduino with a cnc shield but I don't know how to program it to get it to move from side to side. It only needs to travel 7ins and then return to its origanal posion after the the cutter has cut the bottle (15 secs) Easy enough you'd think, but I don't know enough code to get it to work.
