Quick question on belt driven actuator - newbie

    hi huys and gals,
    I could really use your advice. I'd like to build an actuator probably using a c-beam sitting on its side where the stepper motor is fixed vertical and moves a plate with printer head back and forth along the length of the beam.
    The only video i could find is a belt drive that moves the plate and motor. So, this idea is a bit different.
