Building laser, using many spare parts from an Ender 3d printer. Using the Nema 17's 42-34 by Creality for X and two Y's. They are are running very hot, almost burning to the touch, even when setting idle as I am still calibrating. Using the X32 box as controller. I have the current turned all the way down as per the instructions in the controller docs.
I verified and rechecked all pin wiring from the motors to the board and all is correct. Tested coils with ammeter to be sure that are A+A-, B+B- as indicated on the board.

Are these motors up to the task? or am I overlooking something?

The minimum output current is around 1.2A (perfect for our NEMA17s). If yours are overheating they may be too small for use with BlackBox

yes I sort of figure that... I just checked my motor and it's rated for 0.8 a, so yes, this is the issue. Thanks, I should of looked at this before I wrote here, too simple.
