I was just checking one of my stepper motors I got from you guys and noticed the shaft
can move back and forth in and out of the body. Is that normal? I had read that stepper motors
have a spring in them that allow for some movement and am looking for conformation from
    this forum.

That's why the Endmounts has bearings to constrain and support the leadscrew directly, you don't use the motor's bearings. The motor bearings constrain the motor shaft radially. (fine for pulleys)
