I'm missing a step in the process I feel. My first project was going to be setting up the underside of the spoil Board. I CADD'ed up the board in Fusion 360, set up just one T-nut hole for a test cut, Installed the OpenbuildsGRBL.cps and pointed the post processor to use it to generate the job.nc file. Now when I open it up in OpenBuildControl the simulate errors with

No GCODE in Preview yet. Please set up tool Paths and generate GCODE

    What Am I missing?

Thanks I'm a NOOB at CNC

Did you define a toolpath in Fusion?
If you are new to Fusion as well as cnc I'll try to help when I get home.
    Alex.

Peter recently made a change to the 3d viewer, which may explain the error. Post your job.nc file here and we'll take a look at it. You may have to change the file extension to .txt to attach it to your response.

It will also be helpful to know where you got your OpenbuildsGRBL.cps file from. I know of 3 different versions on github so be specific.

Yes New to Fusion 360 but have used Inventor 2017> for some time 3d printing. I did generate CAM files with my tool and using 2d adaptive. I figured out that I can run the file.nc and cut.

New issue just surfaced. I was cutting one-two 2d adaptive pockets at a time trying to dial things in. Suddenly the holes are coming out under size on the diameter. Sill investigating this one

I did just alow the auto updater run. (installed last week but today is my first day trying to CNC)

Hole.txt is one of my Fusion360 outputs

    the .cps is from swarfer/GRBL-Post-Processor

Adaptive tool paths with these types of machines will usually run undersize due to tool deflection. Do a light finish pass after the adaptive. An adaptive tool path is a roughing tool path, so even on industrial machines, you always run a finish pass after.

You should also check your "stock to leave" settings in your adaptive tool path. I cant remember off the top of my head if Fusion automatically sets a "stock to leave" on adaptive paths since, as I mentioned above, they are meant for roughing and you should leave some stock for your finish pass.

Other causes can be tool diameter and your steps per/mm. Its not uncommon for bits to be undersized (figured that out the hard way).

Hole.txt loaded just fine in OB Control for me. Swarfer is the correct one, so you are good on that front.

Regarding stock to leave, I just verified that fusion does default to a .020" stock to leave on adaptive toolpaths so you should check there first. Its in the passes tab.

Turns out I did toggle the stock to leave back on during my test.

I'm running a job right now. I'll have to revisit the OB Control preview later. My current version is v1.0.194

@Peter Van Der Walt why is the 3D viewer disabled by default?

fusion defaults to having 'radial stock to leave' which will leave the hole small so you can do a finishing pass.
Here is a whole series of videos on using Fusion.....go there and then pick out the things you want to know from the playlist...
