This has probably been answered, but I have not been able to locate it. Over the last year and a half I have purchased the parts to build a Sphinx 1050. I am attempting to set up the Control software, but there is no GRBL settings tab. Can someone please explain to me how to correct this or setup the software for the 1050? I am currently unable to control the unit at all.
I'm taking a wild stab here but is there a chance that your controller isnt on com3? I dont even know if control can connect to something other than a grbl based board. Peter would know better than I, but I thought I'd chime in since he probably wont be around for a several more hours. It would be helpful to know your controller and your OS.
I am using the Blackbox motion control controller on Win 10. I am a complete noob on this so it could totally be on my end. I do not have any other option then com3.
This is what is displayed in the serial console at start up. It seems to connect fine to the controller but I am unable to actually make the motors move.
Same issue on a desktop. It seems to connect, but I cannot control the unit. The Grbl settings tab is nowhere to be found. Is there a place I may be able to download an older version of the software?
Grbl settings appears once Grbl responds to the $$ sent at connection time. This looks like the controller is locked up - test with other wiring disconnected, just the USB cable attached to controller - hit the Abort button to clear queue - send "$$" from Serial Console tab manually
Did the above on both computers. Nothing changed. I noticed that if I click "Send" nothing happens. If I hit enter, the code clears, but does not show as being sent on the serial console
Is there a way to correct the controller if it is locked? Or am I just screwed and need to buy a new one?
Before we get to that conclusion, we are doing a little testing, unless you are aware of some earlier event that could relate? (ie save the time testing if you know something happened to it?) more info helps us find a fix faster
I built the unit last week and found that I was missing a few parts for the drag chain install. Yesterday was when I received those parts and downloaded the software to try to test the unit. I was watching the video on how to setup the software and noticed I did not have the tab needed to set up the unit. The controller has been in the original packaging for around a year before the install. It is currently in an unconditioned space, but I do not see why that would affect the controller.
So sounds like it should work Try an older version of CONTROL from the link above Keep the other wiring except the USB disconnected for now.
OK, one last test: OpenBuilds CONTROL > Wizards and Tools menu > Firmware flashing tool. Select BlackBox, the correct port, 3 axis, no door switch. And click Flash. Screenshot the serial log tab when it completes (fail or success, both) If it flashed successfully, try connecting again
