New spindle

    I bought a new spindle came with a PWM I was wondering do I need it or can I wire the spindle to the motion control and control the on/off and RPM with the controller

    Post some more details about the spindle for us to check and advise from, as is :) its going to need guesswork if it will work and how to wire it up

    • Work voltage: 12-48VDC
    • Rotation speed: 3000-12000 RPM
    • Power: 400W
    • Torque: 500 mN.m
    • Insulation resistance: > 2Megohm
    • Dielectric strength: 400V
    • Motor Length : 186mm
    • Diameter: 52mm
    • Axis collet Length: 48mm
    • Diameter of Axis collect holder: 16mm
    • Repeat accuracy: 0.01-0.03mm

    From the above, I can tell you this though:


    In Grbl Settings
    Set $30=12000 gnea/grbl
    May also need to set $31=3000 gnea/grbl but that depends whether M3 S0 with default config turns the spindle off, or sets it to 3000RPM

    Thus M3S12000 will set the spindle to maximum RPM, etc
