Hi Im experiencing some problems with Y gantry. Sometimes it just stops, shakes, or changes the direction. Ive opened the motor, no visible problems there. gantry moves easily. Its difficult to tell whether its the motor or the driver (Xpro v3.) as It occurs only sometimes (enough to ruin every job). My plan for tommorow is to use <A> driver by cloning the Y. Cheers
If it stops sometimes and reverses sometimes the first thing to check is your wiring - one loose wire or bad connection causes those symptoms. If you can't find an obvious fault at one end or the other of your stepper wiring it is worth replacing it - sometimes the fault is invisible within a crimp connector for example. Alex.
I've checked the wiring - all good. Well, Im going to swap the motors. Nema 23 doesnt require external drivers.
It was the driver. I'll replace it if I ever need 4th axis. Till then I will use 'A' axis, that is cloned 'Y'. I've ordered a new motor just in case. Thanx for your help!
