I have been working on my CNC using extrusions and wheels from Open Builds. I wanted a machine that can cut balsa, plywood to assist me in building RC airplanes for my hobby. The machine has a 50 inch cut length, 16 inch wide and 4.5 Z height.

All the plates were drawn up by myself and cut by my friend Mike on his CNC. So far I am quite happy with the movement of all axis using the Open Build control and Black box.

I am using 1/2 10 5 start lead screw from Mcmaster Carr. I made the Delrin nuts and 4 extras for down the road and so far with jogging all axis around the nuts are smooth and quiet. Everything is very repeatable with no backlash. I need to get some limit \ homing switches and hook up a emergency stop switch. Once I get them I can start my calibration on the machine.

Im still unsure on what I am going to use to spin my cutter.
