Hello i just downloaded the open builds controller for my Lead machine and the video says that I should select COM 27 but I only see COM 3. Can anyone provide what I should do?

Can you assist with homing question? I am trying to start the homing process and when it gets to the z axis switch it start rattling and errors out.

Yes, the Z axis is obviously trying to keep driving up. Have you checked the switches in openbuilds control "troubleshooting tab"? Manually depressing the switches will show up under the X,Y,Z limit status

Confirm wiring and settings against docs.openbuilds.com then check on Troubleshooting tab that they respond before trying to home

Thats just about perfect. And sheds some light on your issue:
It reset so this does look like a wiring issue (switch may be shorting 5v to GND):

Can you share pictures of your Z switch wiring on connector and switch side, as well as the output of '$$' (Grbl settings) (Copy paste from serial console tab in CONTROL right after connection)

Thanks for posting, just helps eliminate one more thing (they are wired correctly)

    So lets back over:
    - when you are on the troubleshooting tab, when you jog the Z axis down to touch the switch, does it show ON next to the Z Limit pin (Note jog it with the Z axis, pressing switch by hand may just press it a little deeper) - Troubleshooting tab is the best way to check if Grbl sees the switch closing or not. Work the problem till it does :)
    - When you click Home does Z start going up or down (if it goes away from switch, then check Homing dir invert, mask gnea/grbl
    - The Xtension Switches are wired Normally Open so double check "Limit Pins Invert" gnea/grbl - should be $5=0
    - Your video and your screenshot showed two different errors, not sure if the screenshot one was from a different time, etc

Great feedback, the screenshot may have been when I changed wires to see if that was an issue. When I depress switch z it shows “on” in the troubleshooting tab, the video I sent was from homing shows the z moving up, which looks like it’s going toward the switch

Yes homing should move it closer to the switch.

Awaiting your feedback on the rest then :) (like whether having the axis push the switch vs pushed by hand has a difference)

Figured it out, I had the X plugged into Z. Switched X&Z and it homed in perfectly.

    Thank you for your help!
