How do you know where the laser will start engraving/burning your material?

    well, it depends (-:
    it depends on how the job was setup in the software that generated the Gcode. the gcode is all relative to a start position.
    there are several 'standard' start positions:
    the center of the work
    the left bottom corner
    the top left corner (often used on mills because the fixed jaw of the vice is at the top).
    the center or a corner of some feature on the part, this is often used in second operations where a part is turned over and a hole or edge can be found for aligning the 2nd op to the first op.
