Fatal error on write to GRBL

    Hi I am new to all of this and not computer clued up I have a problem with my 4 axis foam cutter

    Part way through the cut my cutter stop and I get the following Message

    Fatal error on write to GRBL a device attached to the system is not functioning

    Can someone tell me what is happening with my foam cutter?

    We will need more info to help @Johnopc21. What controller (electronics) are you using? What software do you use to send your code to the machine? If it connects with a USB cable it's worth trying a different cable.

    Sounds like the port went away. Windows shuts down USB port if they suffer EMI, Overcurrent or short circuits.

    EMI - move USB cables away from power, motor, mains, etc wires
    Short circuit - if you have incorrectly wired limits you can short 5v to GND (depending on what controller you have)

    Thank you both for your advice I have taken both picece of advice I have changed the USB cables and disconeced them from both the computor and the mother board over night to see if this works I will let you now if it works

    Leaving them out for the night won't make a difference

    Look at where you route the USB cable over the desk, avoid laying it parallel or near power/motor/mains wiring for example

    I will try all advice given to me I have just received new USB cables Iwill use the to see if there was a problem with the old cables
