    Hi,
I can't get the cutting file to run on Openbuilds. The message tells me there is a letter missing on the G code line. What is the correct file extension to save it so that Openbuilds will open it correctly?
    If that is the problem?

the file name and extension do not matter at all, Gcvode is just plain text.
What matters is the postprocessor, you must use the openbuilds one for vcarve so it produces gcode that is correct for GRBL controllers.

Attached is a portion listed on Vcarve's postprocessor. No GRBL or Openbuilds listed.

Could it be that my Vcarve version is to old? Purchased in 2012.

I extracted the files to the sub folder, PostP of Vcarve but gives me this when I open the program.

    So, V carve pro V6.5?
    (Program Updates〡Vectric)

That may not help you though as it looks though you will need a grbl post processor - before my time in cnc, but I believe grbl dates from 2014?

Options are, ask Vectric for help, upgrade your Vectric software .

    VCarve Pro v12

    Alex.

I am currently looking at Carbide V6. Will this program save G-code that will be recognised by Openbuilds as a cutting file?
My current Vcarve is out of date and to expensive to buy the new version.

We are a Company actually, so you might refer to OpenBuildsCONTROL (or just CONTROL) instead? CONTROL doesn't matter. We don't do anything except send the file along... To a Grbl compatible controller
Looks for GRBL compatible CAMs: docs:software:overview [OpenBuilds Documentation] - if in doubt ask the CAM vendor whether they are 100% grbl / grblHAL compatible

    Good Morning,
I used Openbuilds CAM software as suggested by the members and it created a cutting file from my dxf drawing.
    Problem:
    1. Set it to cut 6mm deep (total). Only cut 3mm deep. I am not sure what I did wrong?
    2. After trying different settings we reloaded the file on the controller software. The router still cuts to the settings from the first file loaded. Is there a way that I can cancel or reset the previous file settings on the controller?

Does the machine jog the correct distance? (Jog 20mm did it move 20mm?) if not, Wizards and tools > Calibration Menu

Must have picked the wrong file or forgot to export the changed file :) It runs whatever you give it.

Thanx Peter I will go back and check the calibration. My question 2 seems to be a mystery. We saved file to different settings, export them (I remembered) but still cutting first file settings. I will go and try again, slowly step by step. My friend bought this machine and because he is only half computer literate (I am the other half;)) we are trying to work it out together. I have a MechMate at home (cutting for 12 years). No problems like this, with easy software.:) I must sell my machine because I am retiring to a much smaller house.

Our first file cut to the depth & feed rate that we saved. We edit the file increasing the feed rate and double the depth. Saved the file under a different name, export it and open it in the controller. We tried a few more but the machine was stuck on the first file settings. Nothing changed.

Oh I thought you meant settings. That I'd rather refer to as "toolpath parameters" - to avoid the confusion with settings

Run me through how you do it exactly, using same file name or different. Which controller (CONTROL, Interface or 3rd party). Screenshots etc
