    I have just assembled my Lead CNC kit from Maker Store. All seems to work Ok except the BlackBox Y axis which drives the steper motor in the same one direction when Y+ or Y- is clicked in OpenBuilds CONTROL v1.0.237. This renders the machine unusable. Y2, X and Z seem to work as expected. How do I fix this please?

    First thing to check is the wiring to the suspect motor - look for loose connectors, wiring where the insulation is gripped instead of the wire. Check both ends and any intermediate connectors. Use a multimeter to check for continuity if you can. Please power off before unplugging any stepper motor connections - failing to do so could damage your stepper drivers.
    Please report back so we know A) You found the problem, B) you still need help.
    Alex.

    I have checked all of these issues. Changing leads between channels does not change the error. All leads have continuity end to end (measured at the connector screws). It is not the motor - I have changed motors and wiring - the error remains with the Y channel.

    Thanks for confirming that, I'm not an expert on the blackbox, but if someone who is doesn't pick up on this I'll bring it to the attention of someone.
    Alex.

    Reach out to your vendor about the possibility of a warranty swop. They will probably work through a couple quick tests too. Thanks

    My vendor referred me to OpenBuilds. The problem is beyond their knowledge!

    Odd. Resellers are supposed to handle it up to a certain point. Please reach out to http://support.openbuilds.com/support/home then. Do provide all the Makerstore history as well else they'll also send you that way as per standard operating procedure.

    Oh, and only thing I don't see mentioned above yet, but you do have the Slave jumpers in place and seated correctly?

    OpenBuilds BlackBox 4X Documentation

    Its in the docs so I would assume you did, but just confirm so it rules it out of it is not.

    Both jumpers are set so that the slave duplicates Y. This is how the board was dlivered. They are both seated all the way down.

    I have found the source of my problem. One of the pins between the MuscleBoard and the stack was bent. Straightening the pin and reassembling fixed the issue.
    Many thanks for all the help.

    That's one to add to the list of things to check (;
    Glad you got it
