i HAVE NEMA 23 4.2AMP 425OZ STEPPERS LOOKING AT BLACK BOX AND SHOWS ONY GOOD TO 4AMPS. CAN I STILL USE THE BLACK BOX WITH A LOSS OF POWER TO THE STEPPERS ? OR WILL THIS CAUSE A BIGGER ISSUE ?
Depends on the complete specs. Amperage is but one parameter. Post your motor's datasheet so we can checkout the coil resistance, inductance, etc as well to give you a more informed opinion
You should only run your steppers at between 60~80% of their maximum rated current (3.36A) so, yes, they should be fine. Alex.
i believe this is them: but i will need to confirm later Manufacturer Part Number 23HS45-4204S Motor Type Bipolar Stepper Step Angle 1.8° Holding Torque 3.0Nm(425oz.in) Rated Current/phase 4.2A Phase Resistance 0.9ohms Recommended Voltage 24-48V Inductance 3.8mH±20%(1KHz) Weight 1.8kg
Yes, they will work great. 3.78v coils (versus our 3.0v) should accelerate about 20-25% slower than our stock motors The 3.8mH Inductance is a bit higher than ours (closer to 1mH) which may restrict top speed a bit See Grbl v1.1 Configuration · gnea/grbl Wiki and Grbl v1.1 Configuration · gnea/grbl Wiki
