Black Box Controller + Laser + Spindle HELP!

Hey everyone. I have a black box controller that I am using to drive a laser and a spindle. My issue is that my laser mounts in the spindle like a bit. I have macros to power up the device I want to use. The problem is that if I do not physically disconnect the cable to the top of the spindle, it damages the laser because it starts to spin even though I have told the machine via grbl to use laser mode. I would really like to get it to where I dont have to disconnect the cable. I have used it for about a year with no issue by disconnecting the spindle cable but looking for a more functional setup.
