    I've been working on this build for my shop at work for over year. It was designed to keep up with a ShopBot PRS Alpha, and CAMaster Cobra 510, but made with an "openbuilds" budget.

    Bear CNC

    It features;

    - 4' x 8' x 6" cut capacity
    - 2.2 Kw, ER20 air cooled spindle
    - Vacuum hold down table
    - Rack and Pinion drive on the X and Y axis (custom made)
    - Open builds lead screw drive on the Z axis with spring assisted lift.
    - Open builds wheel linear motion
    - Buildbotics control box
    - 8020,10 series extrusions

    We finally got it tuned and set up for production this week, and I wanted to share.

    I'll add more pictures and video as soon as I can. But you can see those at my FB page also by the link above. (you'll need to scroll a bit to see it all.)

    Mike,
    Looks great, as befits someone who has been doing this a while and also has experience with commercial CNC routers as well.

    Hoping you will be sharing some of your design decisions and particularly some details of the rack and pinion
